Isle of Skye: OS Maps 24, 32 (Grade 2 - 3)Departs Stirling 12.00pm. Returns to Stirling 3pm. The Isle of Skye is a must for all walkers. The spectacular Cuillin Ridge is the most dramatic of all mountain ranges this side of the Alps. Whilst the sharper aretes are the preserve of climbers there are chinks in the armour that allow the walker to enjoy the views along this dramatic ridge. We exploit these to the full and also climb the peak of Blaven which gives dramatic views of the main Black Cuillin Ridge. No visit to Skye would be complete without an exploration of the northern Trotternish peninsula. We visit the Old Man of Stoer, a rock pinnacle balanced high on a geologically unstable hillside and also the dramatic land slip at the Quirang.
